What Are the Workshops Like? Workshops take place in many spectacular locations. Beginning with classroom activities, multi-media presentations and discussions, students are prepared for subsequent field investigations of the natural world. Previous experience is not required. Information presented is designed to address a diverse audience. Wed love to be able to promise wildlife observations but that is not always possible - especially in the study of rare and endangered species! We spend as much time as possible outside and generally lunch in the most scenic spot we can find. Participants are responsible for their own meals and lodging. Please note that several of the workshops require considerable hiking, oftentimes at elevations of 6000 feet or more. Participants for those workshops should be able to walk several miles uphill. If in doubt, please ask; we are happy to help! After registering for the workshop, participants receive information about workshop schedule, necessary items, extra expenses, local lodging and nearby campgrounds. Each workshop accepts a limited number of participants, so dont delay -- register today! Questions? Call 208-788-9686 or e-mail gertchri@isu.edu. |

Stipends We strongly encourage teachers to seek support from their districts Eisenhower funds allocated for "professional development". Each district allocates its funds differently. If you need help, please ask. We can provide you with a sample letter that may help. In addition, scholarships are available from:
Each organization will encourage you to be a member and its worth it!
Outdoor Study Please come prepared for all kinds of weather - this is Idaho after all! And mountain weather is predictably unpredictable. Appropriate rain gear, warm clothes and hiking shoes are very important. Please call with questions - we are happy to help. Your safety is very important to us and we use all discretion in our field work. As portions of nearly all of our programs are conducted in the field, participants should be able to walk short distances and be ready to spend much of the day outside. As noted, some of the workshops require moderate hiking. Please remember that the hiking takes place at and above 6,000 feet. If possible, we’ll have vans but in some cases, it may be necessary to carpool to our study sites. Use the
