• Tom Blanchard, M.A. is a historian and speaker with expertise on the Wood River Valley. He served for many years as a Blaine County Commissioner and is now the co-director of the Sawtooth Garden Project.
     

  • Carol Cole is the interpreter for the Sawtooth National Recreation Area and a Project Learning Tree facilitator.
     

  • Alexis Collins is the environmental education specialist with the Boise National Forest and a Project Learning Tree facilitator.
     

  • Liese Dean is the Wilderness Program Manager for the Sawtooth NRA, USDA Forest Service. She received the Bob Marshall Award 1995 for her work for Wilderness.

  • Ann DeBolt, M.S. is a botanist for the Bureau of Land Management and an active member of the Idaho Native Plant Society.
     

  • Christine Gertschen, M.S. is the Institute's founder and director, a certified teacher and has lived in the Wood River Valley for 25 years. She is the past president and serves as executive secretary for the Idaho Environmental Education Association.
     
  • Edward D. Koch, M.S. is a biologist with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
     
  • Laurie Matthews, M.S. is the Wilderness and Recreation program manager on the Middle Fork Ranger District, USDA Forest Service and holds an Idaho teaching certificate.
     
  • Ruth Moorhead is president of the local chapter of the Idaho Plant Society, has taught bird identification courses since 1982 and leads wildflower outings.
     
  • Roger Rosentreter, Ph.D. is a botanist with the Bureau of Land Management in Boise and an adjunct professor at Idaho State University and Boise State University.
     
  • Steve F. Russell, Ph.D., a recognized Lewis & Clark Trail expert literally grew up on the trail at Powell and Weippe. He is Associate Professor of electrical and computer engineering at Iowa State. He is past president and currently serves on the board of the Nez Perce Historic Trail Foundation.
     
  • Stefan Sommer, Ph.D. is a curator of insects and ecology, an assistant professor of biology, the principal investigator for an NSF funded project entitled "Treasuring Our Natural Heritage" and co-PI for the Digital Atlas of Idaho.
     
  • Ross Spackman, M.S. is a professor of water resource management at the College of Southern Idaho who is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Soil Science, emphasizing water quality research.
     
  • Glenn Thackray, Ph.D. is an associate professor of geology at Idaho State University, and has conducted research on the glacial history of the Northwest and central Idaho.
     
  • Edna Rey-Vizgirdas, M.S. is a botanist with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in Boise.
     
  • Ray Vizgirdas is a biologist with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in Boise.
