Aestivate

To pass the summer in a certain manner or condition, often in a dormant or torpid state (Morris 1992). It is when animals, especially desert animals, go into a state of torpor or hibernation in response to very dry conditions or hot temperatures. They usually emerge for a period of activity in the fall of the year. |
