| Yard | lowland area with dense coniferous cover in areas. |
| Yardang | An elongate ridge carved by wind erosion. The ridges are parallel to the prevailing winds in and regions with soft sediment at the surface. |
| Yarding | herding up in lowland areas with dense coniferous cover in areas called yards. |
| Yazoo stream | A tributary stream that flows parallel to the main stream for a considerable distance before joining it. Such a tributary is forced to flow along the base of a natural levee formed by the main stream. |
