Got free time? We need volunteers!
Volunteers are vital to the Museum's success. Involving
volunteers helps us stretch our budget and accomplish things we
would otherwise be unable to do. Their unique and diverse skills
help us provide the best possible service to our community.
Volunteers receive an individual museum membership after
providing 30 service hours and gain personal satisfaction by partnering
with the Museum and its staff.
Volunteers share their skills with us, make new friends,
learn more about Idaho's natural and cultural heritage, and may
even enhance their resume.
Volunteer positions currently available:
- Newspaper Clipping Service (daily
commitment) - one or more volunteers to find, clip, copy, scan
and post Museum-related articles from area newspapers.
- Educational Docents (year-long commitment)
- provide interpretation for all ages in the Main Gallery and
recently remodeled Discovery Room. Adults of all abilities and
backgrounds welcome. Excellent 36-hour training program available.
- Scientific Illustrator (variable
commitment) - prepare accurate drawings of scientific specimens
for research and publication. Training available.
- Curatorial Assistant (variable commitment)
- To identify, label, and catalog (to include electronic data
entry) as well as appropriately store archaeological objects.
- Extra Hands (occasional) - help
out at special activities and events.
