weeks). Volunteers will be matched with projects that suit their
interests, skills and availability and will be under the supervision
of appropriate IMNH staff in charge of the project. Projects may

and will follow up to insure training is adequate and expectations
clear and will provide additional support, as necessary.
Reporting
The volunteer will fill out a volunteer services log at the
completion of the project which documents the date and number of
service hours completed. If the volunteer provides service over
several days or weeks, he or she will maintain a volunteer services
log each time she/he works. The log will be housed in the appropriate
IMNH staff person's office.
Time Commitment
The number of hours required to complete each special project

the volunteer the time commitment required for their particular
project. All Museum volunteers will be considered on probation during
their first assignment to ensure a good fit between her or his skills
and the Museum tasks.

will require independent, often creative, thinking, attention to
detail, and a willingness to follow instructions. A few assignments
will require special skills such as strength, penmanship or use
of particular tools or software.
Benefits

on service days, recognition during National Volunteer Appreciation
Week and will gain personal satisfaction by partnering with the
Museum and its staff. After volunteering 30 service hours each year,
the volunteer will receive an individual Museum membership. If requested
and warranted, letters of recommendation and documentation of service
will be provided to the volunteer.
