Cordage
for Bowstrings
Spears and atlatls
had been efficient weapons for thousands for years. The invention of the
bow and arrow meant that a hunter could kill prey at a greater, safer
distance. However, a bow had little launching power without a strong piece
of cordage bowstring to propel the arrow.
The illustration
above is a replica of a bow and sinew bowstring made by a person of the
Bannock People.

Bowstrings were made from sinew and plant fiber cordage.
