Idaho State University American Association of Museums

Archaeology (250,000 objects)

Research Curator: Dr. E.S. Lohse

These collections contain both historic and prehistoric objects including lithic materials (stone flakes and tools), animal bone, soil samples, pottery, basketry, seeds and plants, and other specimen lots from excavated site contexts. The majority of these materials are located in the Earl H. Swanson Archaeological Repository (ESAR).  As the eastern adjunct to the Archaeological Survey of Idaho, ESAR maintains state and federally-owned archaeological collections recovered from surveys and excavations in eastern Idaho since 1958.
